If all children love going to the beach, traditional activities like building sandcastles may not always be enough to keep them entertained. So, between two swims, why not offer them some more original games? From a treasure hunt to making a sundial, here is a selection of activities to keep your little ones busy during a day by the sea.

1. Organize a Treasure Hunt

Kids will love taking part in a treasure hunt! Give each child a bucket and a list of items to collect. These can include a seashell, a piece of driftwood, seaweed, a pebble, a feather, or even a periwinkle. This treasure hunt can also turn into an observation game: for example, the child must find a person wearing a blue swimsuit, a striped beach bag, or a red toy.

2. Water Bucket Race

The water bucket race is a beach game that children particularly enjoy. Place as many buckets as there are children in a row, then give each one a small container, such as a seashell or a plastic cup. Each child must then fill their bucket with water as quickly as possible by running back and forth to the sea. The first to fill their bucket wins! If the children have a significant age difference, you can place the buckets at different distances or give a smaller bucket to the younger ones.

3. Make a Sundial

Are you looking for a beach activity for kids that is both fun and educational? You can suggest they make a sundial. All they need is a large stick and 12 seashells. Arrange the shells in a circle at regular intervals, then place the stick in the center of the circle. As the hours pass, children will be able to observe the movement of the shadow and better understand the sun's path across the sky.

4. Build a Marble Track

The beach is the perfect place to build a marble track. Start by drawing a path in the wet sand, then let your imagination run wild by adding slopes, tunnels, and bumps. You can also create obstacles along the course, such as half-buried seashells or sticks. While building the track, don't forget to protect your child from the sun with a trendy boy’s cap.

5. Play Shark and Fish

Do you know the shark and fish game? One player is the shark, while the others are little fish. The shark must catch the fish, and each time they manage to tag one, that player joins them in catching the others. The winner is the last player not to be tagged. If all the children are wearing their swimsuits, you can play this fun game in the water to make it even more exciting!
